Top 10 Game of Thrones characters

1. Tyrion Lannister
Tyrion is the youngest son of the House of Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage in the TV series. Always outnumbered, he survives against all odds because of his intelligence, wit and bravery. Probably most liked because he has all the best and funniest lines in the series.

2. Arya Stark

Arya is the youngest daughter of the House of Stark, played by Maisie Williams in the TV series. Thanks to her strength and great sense of adventure, Arya does not let herself be defeated whatever cruelty fate visits upon her.

3. Danaerys Targaryen

Danaerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, the "mother of dragons," is a beautiful and powerful warrior queen, who with her natural leadership, strength and ever increasing army is slowly conquering the world. The world in "Game of Thrones" is vast and varied, and Danaerys' story is one of the most colourful.

4. Jaime Lannister
Jaime Lannister, the Kingslayer, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau,
son of Tywin Lannister, brother to Cersei and Tyrion, goes from being an arrogant and unscrupulous antagonist to a humble and sympathetic protagonist. His character's arc is an example of what makes "Game of Thrones" such compelling viewing.

5. Sandor "The Hound" Clegane
With his scars and harsh character, The Hound, played by Rory McCann, is the perfect villain with a heart of gold, loyal like a dog and only afraid of one thing: fire. Even though the series has lost many favourite characters, we will miss the Hound most of all.

6. Joffrey Baratheon

Joffrey Baratheon, the king of Westeros, played by Jack Gleeson, is pure evil, a sadist without a hint of humanity. A testament to Gleeson's acting skills, Joffrey has become one of the most despised characters in TV history.

7. Khal Drogo
Khal Drogo, the leader of the Dothraki tribe, played by Jason Mamoa, is a true warlord, master rider and raider. Despite his brief presence in the first season, he has made a lasting impression, not least because he moulds Danaerys into the queen that she becomes.

8. Ygritte
A wildling from beyond the wall, Ygritte, played by Rose Leslie, is fierce and free, one of the many strong female characters in Game of Thrones. Endowed with one of the best catchphrases in the entire series: "You know nothing,
Jon Snow."

9. Hodor

Hodor.

10. The Mountain
Gregor Clegane, "the Mountain", brother of "the Hound," played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, truly does justice to his nickname with his size and ruthlessness. We can't wait to see what is cooking in the Mountain's future.
